We haven’t stopped eating, sleeping or breathing tent trailer details since we bought it over a week ago. On Friday, Jeff and I emptied the tent trailer, cleaned everything in it, then cleaned it out and loaded it back up. Then we packed up to get out of town. After we loaded the trailer onto the car we finally hit the road, and were stopped dead on the highway due to traffic- very excited stuff!!
We finally made it to Blue Rock Campground, just west of Turner Valley and we had a great camping weekend.
Some highlights from weekend #2 out in the wild with the House of Q:
-Jeff’s co-worker saved us a site, allowing us to capitalize on their planned days off and advance camping trip planning . We also tried to get in on their two person meal of ribs but settled for an excellent dessert cooked by them!!
- We fumbled with each tent trailer feature (i.e., heat, fridge, water and stove top). Stove top has always worked, but first night out and heat, fridge and water were a no-go. It was chilly at +2 degrees but… by the time we left on Sunday, the only thing not working was the water pump.
-We ate high quality meals including; Friday night dinner was pasta, Saturday breakfast was homemade pancakes, a smorgasbord lunch, steak shiskabob dinner with baked potatoes and bean chilli (by Lisa) and Sunday breakfast was toast, eggs, home fries and coffee in the new coffee percolator! Meals were much improved with our new tent trailer!
-We enjoyed a visit with Rob, Lisa, Hudson and Katie with a walk in the morning and then a restful Saturday afternoon with all 4 kids sleeping and beers being consumed.
-We struggled to dismantle tent trailer and hook it back up to car. Decided that we take about 1.5hours longer than we should but realize we’re doing pretty well since it’s only our second time out.
-Connor and Kai wanted more action on the trails, so after Sunday breakfast we hiked a bit more and saw massive boulders and man made forts in the trees and then started the loading/cleaning to get on the road.
-Today Jeff found a tick submerged in his back 2 days after returning from the wild! He’s currently at a walk-in clinic with tick in a ziploc and has been waiting for a few hours.
We are all still recovering from the change in sleep patterns but it was great to get away. Kai’s favorite part of camping still eating the marshmallows and Connor clocked some mad rock-licking time as well as consuming his first pine cone while I was distracted loading up the tent trailer… still to be confirmed!
It was really great and the Q boys are already becoming outdoor junkies. We just need to work on Q dad’s patience level with every small detail. Overall Jeff's he’s doing great driving the rig and getting all the parts and pieces working.
This weekend we’re staying in town but we’ve got some more fun trips planned for end of June/beginning of July.
