Father’s day was great… but Kai had a difficult time grasping the concept that the day wasn’t about him. Seriously we talked about his day maybe 90% of the day… his birthday that is, when he gets to choose everything for the day (it's 7 months away). Kai shed tears over the following:
1. He couldn’t have his choice for breakfast
2. We were going to Bass Pro to buy something for Dad (not him)
3. Dinner was Dad’s choice… it was a tough day for Kai!
However in the end, Kai did profit in purchases, getting a new fishing pole and a new inflatable boat for dad and Kai to enjoy together! I also earned myself some camping attire including a Youth sized rain suit… seriously ? Youth sized? That’s some giant 10year old! Bass Pro is a full day activity all on it's own... what fun!
It was a great day and for Grandpa Checky and Poppa- we called ( on the phone that is)!! That’s got to count for something… right? I’m sure the card is in the mail, with the gift too! Yep, definitely!
But in all seriousness; Jeff and I have been blessed with amazing fathers that served as strong male role models in our life. We grew up privileged because of our parents hard work and we have so many memories of both our Dad’s spending quality time with us.
Now that we're raising 2 little Q boys, every day we’re thinking about how we want Kai and Connor to grow up based on the upbringing we had with our families. So, thank you for your time, love and devotion to your kids and your families. We love you Dad’s… you are the best and we’re so grateful to have you behind us!
(Never mind that this post is 4 days behind the actual day; Fathers day need not be just one day in the year! Right?)
