We’ve also had some other interesting conversations, which leave me wondering but very intrigued…
Me: “So you want to play hockey and soccer, is there any other sport you want to try?”
Kai: “Rainbow jumping!”
Me: blank stare
(Interpretation: rainbow jumping is hoping from square to square on our foam padded flooring in the play room. I was thinking he’d choose a registered sport, swimming, karate, chess but Kai was in magical thinking stage of cognition).
Kai: “Mom, Miss Heather taught me that this part (rubbing his hand across his throat) is where all love and hearts comes from”.
(Interpretation: Miss Heather is the music therapist at day care, and Kai is her sponge!)
Kai: “I don’t like that acting daddy.”
(Interpretation: Daddy is not playing the way I’d like, I’m protesting).
Me: "What happened to your pants?" (pointing to a new hole in the knee of his khaki coloured corduroy pants)
Kai: "I guess I fell and broke them. Yup, I broke my pants".
(Interpretation: This is how it is Mom, things break, get over it!)
