So call me super mom, call me crazy mom but this year... I stepped it up in the Halloween costume arena for 2013.
I had to make up for last year because I didn't get a costume for Connor (explanation: he was 2 months old and it was the "second child" phenomenon, but I felt bad). So this year, I had three costumes in the cue for Connor. We had a lion, a duck and an owl and he looked so cute in all of them... but we started by wrangling Connor into the lion costume (from Kai's first Halloween) and then the owl and we didn't get to the duck due to fears of a costume revolt (i.e., near massive meltdown) from the little C-man!
In the end, Connor took off down the driveway like a little birdy, just out of the nest! He was flapping his arms, about to take flight just like a little owl. It was very entertaining and he tolerated the owl much better than the lion.

Kai was a fireman again this year and all I can say is... Thank GOD!! Like seriously, how did my Mom tolerate my incessant need to change costumes every year for like 10 years? I swear she was a saint (the corner suite is yours!!). Mom made my costumes by hand each year; dusting off the sewing machine; purchasing a pattern and fancy, coordinating materials. She was a costume maker extraordinaire; there was no costume too difficult and she is making me look bad already!
But in the end, Kai just suited up with little effort on my part and I felt pretty good about it.

The Q grandparents passed down the best ever candy-collecting-pumpkins and both boys plodded along carrying their candy filled pumpkins. It was a really great night out, not too cold which is amazing here in Calgary!
As for the pumpkin carving in the House of Q... it's getting better each year. Jeff used a template again but there was less cussing and cursing and carrying on compared to all other years. One pumpkin is Jeff's and the other one is mine. Now the most ironic part... Jeff and I were up without the boys, carving the pumpkins alone on Wednesday night. It was like a date, only totally different!
Here's the House of Q candy stash! This is both Kai's and Connor's combined but... what were we thinking? What 3 year old needs this much candy? Never mind the fact that Connor's only 15 months!
Connor figured out really fast what this Halloween stuff was all about and he's attempted candy thief tactics when no one is looking. So the next few days will be interesting, either Jeff and I will gain 20lbs or our coworkers will!!!
