Here’s what we did last weekend...
Jeff’s buddy, Trevor, was in town and we did a lot of this… (see picture) sitting on the couch watching the Olympics whist eating chips. I didn’t always partake but I did take pictures.
We had a great visit with Trevor. Jeff and Trev jaunted off into the mountains for 2 nights and 3 days while I single parented in the House of Q. It was an adventure for all of us but who says 3 a couple nights in a row of tortellini is a bad thing? Who says, your husband taking 2 days off parenting to ski, flit and frolic in the mountains is a bad thing?
I worked both Monday and Tuesday while Jeff was gone and it was all going so smoothly until my day home sent a *reminder* email on Monday at 5pm that she was closed on Tuesday… … …
Reminder implies I was informed initially. I was racking my brain as to where this knowledge went, what part of my brain was this hiding? Had I failed to comprehend an email, had I mis-read a memo? Did I get the memo?
Upon further investigation, we discovered that I was never told such important news! So I scrambled and found care for Connor at Kai’s day care. It was a bit of a juggle and in hindsight I should’ve taken the day off ( I have some special leave days) but it didn’t cross my mind until mid-morning at work on Tuesday.
It all worked out. Connor loved day care and he fit in perfectly. Although Kai told me that Connor kept trying to come and see him in his room. Connor wanted to be at Kai’s side the entire day.
This week’s weather was mild, until today and now it’s -25C and we’re house bound again. But I’m over it, I am pretending it’s a balmy -10 and hiking the kids around town.
I’m also packing us up for our trip to Big White Ski Resort just outside of Kelowna. We leave next Wednesday so we’re getting ready to now. It’s going to be a fun, 10 hour drive over 2 major mountain passes, taking us 2 full days to get there.
I wonder if they’ll be any stories for you? (my adoring readers). Considering Jeff snaps before we even leave the driveway on most road trips, Connor screams the entire way to the grocery store, zoo or library, and Kai takes advantage of any treat opportunities he can by lulling us into submission with his incessant begging, asking and scream-crying. I can’t wait.
I’ll be dishing out treats, stickers, and musical interludes like you’ve never seen before.
