Connor transitioned into a teething monster over the last 2 weeks and slowly morphed back into the sweet little boy we know in the last week.
It was a nightmare! He was waking up every hour through the night, on a steady dose of tylonel and screaming every minute during the day. Oh the screaming…screaming because he was happy, sad, angry, mad, hungry, tired, playful, soulful! You get the picture without the broken ear drums!!! I was about to lose my mind and I think I did snap a little at the end of day 4! (Dear neighbours: Please don’t call the authorities!)
And just when we’d think this has to be the worst of it… it got worse! He was hardly eating, rarely little drinking and just losing it most of the time. So we were elated when he had a good day on Tuesday and an even better sleep on Tuesday night… all in time for Jeff to catch a little somethin’ in the tummy!
Connor also started climbing the stairs. He loves it and I almost have an aneurism, stroke and heart attack all at the same time. So we bought a new baby gate, that doesn’t work, it’s almost as infuriating as your baby screaming 24/7. But we needed something useless right?
Connor’s track record with climbing was pretty good until… it wasn’t anymore. He sustained bilateral forehead bruises as he tumble-weed rolled down the cement stairs in the basement (nope, no gate there!!!) while I was neglectfully attending to Kai’s bloody nose… it was a few sweet moments that day!
Kai is still protesting play school days and we’re still enticing him with random excitement such as mini-cinnamon raison bagels or homemade banana bread or riding his bike home that night or that tomorrow's a ‘home day’… it’s working well but it won’t be long until he starts negotiating this stuff too.
I am really enjoying work, it’s busy and I love working with the little people again (babes 0-5). The babes are so sweet and it’s fun that they’re not mine!
Jeff is still going grey, and losing stamina with each passing day. He’s hung up the tent trailer keys for the year, almost done battening down the hatches for winter and he loves telling everyone (coworkers and friends) that, “summer’s over, it’s winter now”. This is almost as infuriating as the screaming toddler and the baby gate- almost!
As September started I set some goals… I’ve been enjoying stellar weather, crafting again and snapping paparazzi-style shots of Connor as he terrorizes the whole house! The House of Q is living full!!
