I feel like a half peeled orange, or a brown banana or the remaining dregs of Halloween treats; slightly desperate, muddled and …a bit unsatisfied.
So far this month it seems we’ve all lost something; cognitive function, executive function and in a few cases, bodily function! It’s one hot mess!
The House of Q seems to sense the changes that November brings in a physical and emotional way. We start to feel like caged animals, but we don’t want to brave the cold, yet we start jumping out of our skin when indoors…so then we attempt an outdoor adventure and it takes the better part of an hour just to get out the door and by the time we do, the kids are tired, read to snack and we’re all sweating.
I start using “not nice words” when attempting any outdoor excursion, I am bothered by everything that comes out of Jeff’s mouth and both boys start offering their opinion as some sort of karma in my face! It’s definitely “the worst month ever”.
Last weekend we succumb to the blizzard on Saturday and stayed indoors all day but, on Sunday we braved the sunny cold to attempt some tobogganing! It was a first for Connor and this year Kai was ready to take on the big hills. We donned our equipment and hiked on over to Confederation Park.
Kai loved it, Connor was somewhat underwhelmed and it was so fun for me to watch Jeff’s old bones bump, thump, whack and smack down the snow dusted slope. I saw him physically hit every root, rock and leaf as they glided down the hill. It was great!
So after the hills we retreated back to the great indoors for hot chocolate; the hot chocolate I boiled over the edge of the pot to burn into a solid ring of burned crap around the flat top element. Yep! Any suggestions on how to clean that up are welcome!!
It was a great outing but I can’t say we’ve been up to much more… November is killing our motivation, inspiration and love for the outdoors! I can’t wait till December then the real fun starts!
