Battles I chose recently:
- L.A. airport, wiping Kai’s face off so the ketchup wasn’t so obvious = LOSE (Melt down central in the middle of the terminal... I resorted to letting the kid look dirty!)
- Changing Connor’s nasty diapers that look like my pumpkin seed butter = WIN ( I think - I will never look at the pumpkin seed the same again!)
- Crying, grumpy Kai waking up on the wrong side of the bed, time for a “break” in your room jut 2 minutes after waking up = WIN (Kai kicked, screamed and carried on for decades, waking Connor from his nap- maybe this is a LOSE?)
- Allowing Connor to scream it out as he just wanted to play and was over-exhausted = TIE ( I absolutely HATE the cry it out method but this kid didn’t know what he wanted and continued to just scream whether I was in the room or not. End result: he settled after an hour!!! LONGEST HOUR OF MY LIFE!)
Battles I let slide recently:
- Franklin and Friends sequential episode watching as I lay comatose on the sunroom chaise = WIN (since I could barely move due to extreme jet lag/exhaustion)
- Watching Kai choose a stick for our spring nature sculpture that was less than ideal = WIN (i.e., about 2 inches long… this is supposed to be the curtain rod type object!!)
- Encouraging Kai to share the soccer ball during outside play session = WIN (This kid’s gonna get roughed up tomorrow night at his first soccer practice- why should I interfere? I'm no helicopter Momma...yet!!)
