I’ve been offline and it’s mostly due to the speed at which time was passing me by while on vacation. But in short, we had a great vacation with family in Ontario. We spent time on little island 657 on Lake Temagami, a night at Nottawasaga Resort and then 4 days at the Q family beach cottage on Lake Huron. It was glorious! And I have to say I’m getting much better at taking that 5 minute break for myself - heck I even showered every 3 days! It was unheard of and it was perfect!
So to cap off our great summer trip, here are Kai’s (and Connor’s) top moments and memories:
-Playing water golf, mini-golf and anything that looked like golf!
-Eating Connor’s first birthday cake in Temagami.
-Cheering on the team work by Kati and Poppa as they retrieved my golf ball shots from the dock.
-Connor’s baby seat courtesy of the “workmate” tool bench
-Naked Q boys running, splashing and playing in the sand at the beach.
-Learning from Grandpa that you can throw a metal pail into shore from the sandbar and slowly watch it sink to the bottom before Daddy can retrieve it.
-Kai chasing after Annika and Emilia, calling “cousins, cousins”.
-Connor gaining walking speed to keep up with Kai and his cousins.
-Sitting in the cockpit storage area of Grandpa’s kayak as he paddled me around.
-Celebrating Connor’s “baby welcoming” with an Aunty Roz ceremony; little Connor Q has quite the family love and support surrounding him.
-Sitting beside Momma and Connor as Dad sat behind us on the flight home (FOR REAL!)
There were so many great family moments and I think we covered almost all of our to-do lists (generated on email and sent to the grandparents prior to arriving). We kept everyone VERY busy and I'm sure they're all still recovering this week.
But now that we’re back- it’s been a brutal return; Jet lag, 2 dependent children, sleeplessness and I have to cook, clean and do laundry again! It’s like a slap in the face!
Here’s to embracing the transition back to normal routine!
